The 2025 Florida Legislative session is well under way, and we are paying particular attention to House Bill 625, an act relating to Medical Spa Facilities. This bill was filed on February 13, 2025 and if passed will define a “medspa” in Florida Statutes and require each facility to prominently post on its website and in a conspicuous location specified information about the physician supervising the medspa. As both beauty and wellness treatments are offered in medical spas, we believe that both cosmetology and massage therapy professions will have interest in this legislation.
At the FSA Cheeca Lodge & Spa Event in September, we shared information about medspa services, equipment and the lack of clearly defined Florida laws regarding medical spas. Introducing legislation that defines medical spa facilities has the potential to better protect consumers and give guidance to spas interested in offering medical grade wellness treatments.
