As Thanksgiving approaches, we find ourselves reflecting on the incredible journey we have traveled this past year. Our hearts are filled with immense gratitude and anticipation for the festive season that is just around the corner. Among the many things I am grateful for, I would like to shine a light on our truly remarkable FSA team and spa affiliates. Their incredible talent and unparalleled value have been crucial in establishing a harmonious spa community that I am so proud to be a part of.

As the tranquil summer season ends, we at the Florida Spa & Wellness Association (FSA) are gearing up to welcome the exciting and bustling holiday season. Our focus? To continue supporting our spa leaders and their establishments, reaffirming Florida as the leading destination for exceptional spa experiences.

Leadership is a powerful tool; it can make or break a team. Understanding that the team’s success reflects your own is pivotal in the spa industry. Being a steward of trust and faith in your team is essential in a people-focused industry. Here are some key factors that help to create an environment of trust within your team.

Harnessing my deep-rooted experience and passion for the spa industry, I along with prominent spa leaders embarked on a journey to uplift and unite Florida’s spa community. This vision led to the inception of The FSA, our dynamic platform aimed at fostering new and rewarding professional relationships.

Success is not just about individual capabilities, but also about how well you can communicate and connect with others. Mindful techniques can provide you with the tools to strengthen communication and connection, which are vital elements in any organization.

As we busily prepare for a special day of artistic expression and inspiration at the Alfond Inn, FSA spring event this June 4th and gear up for Global Wellness Day that follows close behind, I can’t help but get lost in the hustle and bustle. But even amid such excitement, I recognize the beauty of taking a moment to pause. To reconnect with the world outside the ‘business bubble’ and truly appreciate the balance that wellness brings into our lives.

When I reflect upon starting the Florida Spa Association, I remember the strength of my admiration for ISPA, the importance of unifying the spa community to educate and uplift. It was my belief that Florida in 2008, home to an abundance of existing and rising spas, deserved a dedicated regional organization – one that would connect, support, educate and provide resources tailored to our state.

During the month of March, the FSA acknowledges and honors that this not just any ordinary period, but a month filled with women’s accomplishments as a special focus on Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day. We commemorate all the remarkable women who’ve made significant strides in shaping our industry and transforming personal lives throughout time.

As we move through the month of February, a time typically associated with love and romance, it’s important to recognize that love can come in many forms. For some, it may be a deep and abiding love for their career or passion, particularly within the embrace of the Spa and Wellness Industry. This industry offers a unique opportunity for individuals to not only have a job, but to truly love what they do and shape their approach to life.

The New Year always boosts a fresh start. So, let’s ask…. what motivates and compels someone to strive to become indispensable?

Throughout my career, I have been lucky enough to be surrounded by inspiring individuals who have motivated me to strive for growth and success. These individuals are the reason why I founded the Florida Spa & Wellness Association 16 years ago and have continued to stay passionate about our community.

I often ask myself, do we all live in the moment or do our minds wander, reflecting about the past or worrying about the future. As a result, when this happens, we may miss out on what is happening right in front of us. This kind of juggling between the past and the future can make it difficult for us to fully appreciate and enjoy the present. Personally…..been there, done that!

October is a month that holds a special place in my heart. Not only because I love the crisp autumn air and changing leaves when visiting up north, but also because it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For me, this month represents hope, strength, and determination in the face of a disease that has taken the lives of my mother and grandmother.
