We are honored to feature our spa spotlight on Brandon Claypool, a proficient leader in the spa market with an extensive background in fitness and wellness. Brandon, a competitive collegiate powerlifter, set two (2) Florida State Records for the Bench Press and the Strict Curl in his weight class in the APA (American Powerlifting Association) and the WABDL (World Records Association of Bench and Dead lifters). His accomplishments didn’t stop there, as he went onto setting two (2) more World Records in the Bench Press and the Strict Curl in the APA (American Powerlifting Association). Earning his bachelor’s degree at Northern Kentucky University in Exercise Science with minors in Business and Nutrition, Brandon started his career as a board-certified massage therapist in 1998 and a level two (2) Certified Personal Trainer.
Brandon’s career as a Spa and Fitness Director started in 2003 at The Spa at Carefree Resort & Villas in Arizona, overseeing a renovation of casitas to create a full-service spa and salon and was also responsible for the daily operations of a 3500 sq. ft. spa as well as a staff of 14 employees. In 2004 Brandon moved to Florida, taking on the position as Spa Director for the Saddlebrook Resort and Spa in Tampa, to oversee the operations of a 7,500 sq. ft. spa and manage a team of 45 as well as working with the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) and the Presidents Cup Team at the Saddlebrook Resort.
Continuing his spa profession, Brandon built his business career from 2007 through 2015, as Director of Spa, Fitness, and Wellness throughout the US with highly successful endeavors in Alabama, South Carolina, Hawaii, and Wisconsin. In 2015 Brandon became a colleague of the Ritz-Carlton family as Director of Spa, Fitness, and Retail in St. Thomas, USVI and in November 2016 accepted the role of Director of Spa, Fitness, and Retail at the Ritz-Carlton, South Beach. Responsible for a $3.9 million renovation of the spa, salon, and fitness center at the Ritz-Carlton South Beach, Brandon implemented the new brand concept “Time Capsule” to enhance offerings and drive revenue. Also, responsible for the day to day operations of the newly renovated 16, 000 sq. ft. spa, fitness center and hotel signature shop along with a team of 45 employees, Brandon’s organizational and time management skills prove his strength as a director which also allows him the ability to be involved in the community. Brandon participates as an active member of Community Footprints brand initiative and coaches 5 departments as well as finding the time to manage and ensure a healthy balance in his life.
Brandon is passionate about working out and makes it a part of his routine to provide for a healthy lifestyle. He also enjoys water sports, hiking, biking, golfing, beach volleyball, softball and the list goes on…….just guide him outdoors and he shines as bright as the Florida sun. His positive attitude toward people and his passion for health and wellness shows his true love of life.
