Relationships, what’s it to you?
Relationships are essential if you want to live your life to the fullest. In fact, relationships should be your top priority. That’s why we all need to learn how to build good relationships. Good relationships not only help us meet our needs but also make our lives more fulfilling.
So, here’s a mind shift…The Golden Rule vs. “Living in Platinum”
The GOLDEN RULE “Treat others how you wish to be treated”. So how about upgrading to the PLATINUM RULE “Treat others how THEY wish to be treated”.
At our recent summer FSA “VACAY” Event on July 24th, at the Ocean Reef Club, we had the privilege of a dynamic and eye-opening presentation from our Keynote speaker, Jackie Insinger, a motivation and communication expert and founder of Insinger Insights. Her presentation and theme focused on learning how to take full advantage of your potential while building and nourishing more effective relationships. In her practice, she uses a method called “Print”, a short personal quiz that identifies your personality which characterizes when you’re at your “best self” and when you are in your “Shadow” (a term used by Insinger Insights). Your “best self” is when you are positive and most productive and your admired abilities are present. However, when we subconsciously sabotage ourselves (our unconscious motivators) by taking things to excess, our abilities and strengths can be blocked. This is known as our “Shadow”. Distinguishing when we are at our best self and recognizing and/or identifying what pushes us into our shadow is empowering. It allows for an appreciation of why we feel the way we do and what is necessary to adjust as to how we respond to certain situations and influencers for a positive outcome.
When we start to understand these motivators (the drivers and the triggers) about ourselves and the people in our lives, whether it’s our significant other, children, family, friends, work associates, etc., we learn to treat people the way they want to be treated, the “Platinum Rule”. We learn a new type of respect and communication that creates a forceful atmosphere that produces constructive results and positive energy. It creates harmony and well-being amongst those that we interact with.
This is so instrumental, especially in our spa space, where wellness and tranquility remain our billboard. Think of the dynamics when everyone is treating each other at their best. This is a magnificent action that can change lives and bring about happiness as a dominating influence in our life.
“Tuning into, honoring and leveraging each person’s unique contributions — including your own!”
