Natural Healing – The Power of CBD

  • On May 15, 2019

The Skin Benefits of CBD

Soothe your skin and support healing

A restorative solution for all skin types including acne-prone and sensitive skin, CBD is a natural plant compound that’s been shown to help reduce inflammation and support the skin’s natural healing process.

What is it?

CBD, also known as cannabidiol, is a naturally occurring plant compound derived from the cannabis plant. CBD is one of over a hundred cannabinoids (cannabis plant chemicals) present in hemp plants. Other cannabinoid compounds include THC, the plant chemical responsible for the psychoactive effects of marijuana. While CBD is found in the marijuana plant, it is both completely non-psychoactive (won’t get you high) and legal to buy in its isolated form.

What does it do?

CBD has been studied for its relaxing, pain-relieving, and anti-anxiety properties when taken internally, but recent research has shown that it also has calming and therapeutic benefits when applied topically to the skin. It has been shown to help reduce pain and inflammation caused by inflammatory skin conditions, and may even help ease the discomfort of headaches. CBD also has potent antioxidant effects, which means it may help counteract signs of aging caused by free radicals.

What is it used for?

CBD is safe and effective for all skin types, but especially helpful to people who struggle with inflammatory skin conditions, skin sensitivity, headaches, skin dryness, and acne. Because of its powerful anti-inflammatory properties, CBD can help support the skin’s natural healing process, shortening the lifespan of breakouts and eczema/psoriasis flare-ups. If you are struggling with skin issues, consider using CBD as an effective skin care solution.

What you should look for?

Because the CBD industry is still fairly young, it’s important to find products that are truly pure and effective. Price is often a marker of purity; if you find a CBD oil claiming 100 mg potency for under $40, chances are that the CBD is not pure and cannot be sold throughout the country. Avoid products that claim “full spectrum,” which may contain THC and can only be sold in states with legalized marijuana. Look for products that clearly claim CBD purity above 95%. These products contain CBD that has been refined multiple times to remove the other cannabinoids present in the hemp plant, which do not have the same therapeutic benefits as CBD. The purer the CBD, the more effective it will be for your skin.
