THE MAGIC OF GRATITUDE
I have always believed that when you come from a place of gratitude, positive things just magically happen. That doesn’t mean that life will be perfect, yet it does mean that you will spend more time feeling happy and less time feeling negative or down. It’s easy to find flaws and imperfection in just about any action, anything or any person. Yet if we turn it around and focus on the positive and genuinely take a moment to be grateful for what is before us, great feelings exude! It’s all cyclical, one action creates a feeling and a reaction and you pass it along and pay it forward.
Research shows that gratitude reduced a multitude of toxic emotions; resentment, frustration and envy just to name a few. Additionally, grateful people have more longevity, sleep better, experience fewer aches and pains, exercise more and have improved self-esteem. Did you also know that being grateful fosters resilience? Even in the worst moments, a grateful attitude helps us recover faster and adjust to circumstances.
During the hustle and bustle of the holiday rush, dial it down and look that server in the eye, let that person go ahead of you in the checkout line, give your loved ones extra-long hugs, and smile at that car driver that just cut in front of you. Some may be challenging, but in the end, you will benefit from The Magic of Gratitude.
So, this Thanksgiving, take a moment to write three or more handwritten notes of gratitude to give to those who have made a difference in your life this year. The feeling it will incite within you will be reciprocated on the other end.
Happy Gratitude Day
