What is your current labor of love? Are you currently working on a new project or assignment that you would like to share with our membership?
My passion is in teaching people on both the vibrant side and the dis-ease side of the wellness spectrum how to live a mindful and vibrant life. Initially we were founded as a wellness gift card company for people touched by cancer. Since 90% of spas turn people away or make them feel uncomfortable, our emphasis has been on training therapists and wellness advisors at resorts how to adapt programs and treatments for people touched by cancer. This includes: massage, yoga, facials, sleep treatments, exercise, mindfulness and meditation. On the vibrant side of life, we have just launched the only global yoga teacher training designed specifically for estheticians to provide new tools and transition their services into authentic wellness experiences..
In your industry arena and/or area of expertise, what are you seeing on the horizon as a not to be missed or overlooked trend, topic, challenge or opportunity?
I see an opportunity in the importance of beauty and the understanding of the need to disconnect to cultivate calm and beauty. In this intersection where inner and outer beauty reside is where you will also find your “self”. This type of training is traditionally yoga or mindfulness and is beyond what a brand “educator” can design as a protocol or teaching technique. I believe the future is in authentically upgrading our skills and that requires new types of models and authentic teachers.
You have been an inspiration to us at the Florida Spa Association…who or what is your inspiration? Would you share a personal mantra or favorite pearl of wisdom with our members?
My inspiration has always been my parents as I spent close to two decades of my life in cancer centers. My most recent inspiration has been with many of the “legends” who shaped the industry who come from a place of presence and who lift me to a new place from within. They are not looking to cut through to the top, they are at the top, looking how to serve, mentor, and be the wise woman as their own giveback to women.
“It’s always you, its never someone else. When you see something beautiful or you experience a person or situation that creates friction – realize your mind created it for you to see what patterns you need to clean up to live a more vibrant life.”
