Get ready for Global Wellness Day!
GWD is just around the corner and the world is busy planning events. What are you planning at your spa?
We all know that wellness is being aware and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth. “…a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or ill-health.
Maintaining an optimal level of wellness is absolutely crucial to live a higher quality life. Wellness matters because everything we do and every sentiment we feel relates to our well-being. Our well-being directly affects our actions and emotions. It’s an ongoing cycle. Therefore, it is important for everyone to attain the best possible wellness in order to suppress stress, reduce the risk of illness and ensure positive interactions.
As we count down to the official worldwide dedicatory date for Global Wellness Day; Spas, Wellness Centers, Educational Institutions, Businesses and many other organizations are gearing up for health-driven and fitness oriented celebrations throughout the world.
First celebrated in 2012, by founder Belgin Askoy, Global Wellness Day was established in Turkey as the “first” day dedicated to living well, and has now been accepted throughout the world. Global Wellness Day will be celebrated this year on Saturday, June 8th in more than 130 countries at 5000 different locations, reflecting its success.
Although there is an official date to celebrate wellness, it is used as a reminder that embracing wellness into our life is an everyday happening and pledge to oneself. As the Florida Ambassador for the Global Wellness Day movement, which I am proud to share with the Florida Spa Association, we are committed to promoting well-being by continuously encouraging spas to make a mindful effort to include wellness into the life of their guests as well as their own.
Every FSA event incorporates wellness into our agenda, whether it’s fitness, nutrition or any other aspect of life that includes the GWD 7 step manifest: walking, drinking water, healthy eating, avoiding plastic bottles, eating meals with loved ones and getting enough sleep. Being in the spa industry we must invest in the act of self care since we represent the face of well-being.
To live well we need to respect and make peace with our body and mind, care for it, protect it, love it and eliminate stress and bad habits as much as possible. We all want to be healthier, look and feel better and live well both physically and spiritually.
With the slogan “One day can change your whole life,” we celebrate Global Wellness Day!
