“Virtual Reality”, Living by Mantras of Humanity
It’s an evolving world that we’re living in. With the recent outbreak of COVID-19 we have had to make extreme adjustments to all that we have become familiar with, that would be considered normal in our day-to-day life. Quarantine measures have been implemented in countries around the world, forcing business shutdowns, shifting operations to go online and advising people to stay at home. Our Spa and Hospitality Industry has been greatly impacted with layoffs, furloughs and a mad rush to file for unemployment benefits. Life and work as we know it has drastically changed.
Yet being surrounded by an industry that has been embracing wellness for many years has taught us to dig deep into our spirituality for comfort and tap into our creative juices to find resources to work with. Our life is now a virtual reality filled with webinars, zoom calls and a variety of ways to reach out to one another, staying socially connected while being physically distant. The most useful business technologies that have become a must are virtual and amplified reality, including enjoyment, such as virtual social gatherings and happy hours!! But what’s most important is our understanding for the power of humanity. It’s the need to find the strength of individual commitment and the force of collective action.
The upmost calling for a person is to serve the greater good of humanity. Many people are enticed to think of themselves and do what only benefits them. Yet humans also have an altruistic instinct that fills us with a sense of satisfaction when we are able to help others. Humanity and mindful leadership is a critical element to developing a thriving and prosperous business. Conscious leaders don’t focus on themselves, but instead on their entire staff as a whole. This is a time for leaders to provide moral support and guidance to their employees who have lost their jobs and unsure of their future.
In this moment of crisis, the crucial struggle takes place within humanity itself. If this pandemic results in greater disunity and mistrust among us, it will be the virus’s greatest victory. We need to elevate ourselves to rise above the fray and provide sound logical leadership to see the picture as a whole. Being compassionate and understanding for one another has to be our daily mantra to offer positive energy and the highest hope for the future.
Stay Safe and Live Well,
Ilana
