As we start 2023 it is time to take stock of our past successes and look toward the future of the massage therapy profession. As the FSMTA Director of Legislative Affairs the next couple of months are going to be packed with various meetings.
The First meeting is the Medical Quality Assistance Long Range planning meeting on January 13th.
The next meeting is the Florida Board of Massage Therapy quarterly board meeting January 26-27 at the Barrymore Hotel Tampa Riverwalk , 111 West Fortune St., Tampa, FL 33602. If any LMT’s attend for at least 4 hours they will receive Continuing Education for 2 hours of Florida Laws and Rules and 2 hours of Professional Ethics.
The last scheduled meeting is February 14th and 15th. The FSMTA Legislative Team will be in Tallahassee for Legislative Awareness Days (LAD). During LAD we will perform chair massage and have meetings with key members of the Florida Legislature. The FSMTA currently does not have any proposed legislation for 2023.
During the 2023 Legislative Session I will be in constant contact with our lobbying team regarding bills that may affect Florida LMTs.
