April 7th and 8th the Florida Board of Massage Therapy held their second quarterly board meeting of 2022 in Tallahassee. There were a couple of cases of note that came before the Board.
These cases consisted of the Designated Establishment Manager (DEM) requirement for ALL Licensed Massage Establishments.
One case resulted in a reprimand to the establishment license as well as a $1000.00 Fine.
The second case resulted in the Establishment owner having his license suspended until compliant.
It is up to the owner/director to notify the Board of Massage Therapy of any changes to the DEM within 10 days. Discipline typically happens when there is an ongoing defiance of the laws and rules associated with Massage Therapy and Massage Therapy Establishments. The 2022 regular session of the Florida Legislature concluded on March 14th. This Legislative session did not have any legislation that directly affects the Massage Therapy profession.
