STAY COMPLIANT ON

Human Trafficking, DEM Guidelines & Deadlines

With the recent collaboration of the FSA & FSMTA, we are now strategically aligned to support our spa leaders and LMT’s within the Florida Spa Community. Together, we will provide firsthand vital information for our industry concerning state guidelines and regulations. We will also offer educational opportunities for our providers.

How the FSMTA benefits our Florida Spa Community:
The Florida State Massage Therapy Association visits Tallahassee every legislative session. Their visits usually consist of educating Legislators and their staff about the Massage Therapy profession. They also offer chair massage on the second-floor rotunda at the capitol. The Association’s Lobbyists set up meetings with key members of the Florida Senate and House to discuss any legislation that may impact the massage profession.

On October 13th, the FSA and FSMTA held an informative webinar to review the State of Florida’s updated massage requirements.

Discussion included:
  • Human Trafficking Bill, Chapter 2019-52
  • Designated Establishment Manager (DEM)
  • Signage Requirements
  • Required CEU’s – ALL LMT’s – Must be completed by 1/1/2021
Contact [email protected] for the webinar recording, now available for FSA members.

How To Register:
FSMTA is offering a state-approved class complimentary for their members and $20 for non-members. Your therapists may sign up on FSMTA’s website by using the calendar and selecting the month of interest. Find the course listing, click the link and follow instructions to register.

FSMTA Membership:
Membership is offered for individuals and businesses. FSA has recommended that FSMTA allow business membership to include CEU benefits for the location’s DEM. This is something that must go before their executive committee for review and approval. We will keep you posted. Meantime, your therapists may be interested in individual membership and its many benefits including the opportunity to earn all required CEU’s throughout the year with a variety of courses offered at no additional cost. In order to receive the human trafficking course complimentary, membership must be purchased prior to registering for a class.
