Is Wellness the New Luxury?
Is well-being and living a healthy lifestyle a luxury? …….We certainly think so!
And that is why we are so focused on spreading this message throughout the spa community. The term “wellness” has been interpreted in many ways. Although there are numerous views on what defines wellness or how we incorporate living well into our daily lives, as an integral part of the spa industry and as leaders in health and well-being, we share many varieties and models of wellness. Some would say it’s a cognizant, self-guiding and evolving process toward a healthier lifestyle or a multidimensional and holistic way of embracing mental and spiritual well-being. Wellness is an active process of making choices that help us become more aware of and in tune with a healthier and improved existence – both physically and spiritually.
As spa front-runners we know this, but how do we communicate this message? And do we actually walk the talk??
As an Ambassador for the Global Wellness Day movement, now a worldwide movement, I am proud to report that we anticipate 4000 locations in 100 countries to celebrate Global Wellness Day on June 10th, 2017. The crusade is alive and well, and my personal passion and commitment along with our FSA team is quite clear.
The GWD slogan that “One day can change your whole life,” has been the inspiration for our 2017 FSA events, communicating a message of wellness to our spa comrades and having fun with it. Our upcoming event at the Bonita Bay Club, themed “The WAVE” (Wellness And Vitality Event) embraces wellness mindfulness with an impressive presentation from a professional guest keynote speaker and fitness panel. This will be followed by embracing our spa family in an “Orbit of Wellness”, which includes 3 experiences (Mini Spin, Yoga/Stretch, Omnia/Kinesis) in an 18,000 square-foot ultra-fitness center at the Bonita Bay Club.
Encouraging our spas in Florida to participate in Global Wellness Day on June 10th (the international day devoted to living well) is an important undertaking for the FSA. Being so involved and touching lives throughout our community sends a strong message. Recognizing the value in our lifecycle, finding freedom from stress and bad habits, discovering balance and peace within ourselves and doing this as often as possible are steps toward living well and realizing a shared dream!
So when we consider wellness a luxury, and welcome health and happiness into our lives, we find that this is the richest gift that we can give to ourselves.
When “I” is replaced by “We”… Even “Illness” becomes “Wellness”…………………
