Welcome Wellness into your life!
We define wellness as an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth. Maintaining an optimal level of wellness is absolutely crucial to live a higher quality life. Wellness matters. Wellness matters because everything we do and every emotion we feel relates to our well-being. In turn, our well-being directly affects our actions and emotions. It’s an ongoing cycle. Therefore, it is important for everyone to achieve optimal wellness in order to suppress stress, reduce the risk of illness and ensure positive interactions.
As we welcome wellness on June 9th, the official worldwide commemorative date for Global Wellness Day; Spas, Wellness Centers, Educational Institutions, Businesses and many other organizations are gearing up for health-driven and fitness oriented celebrations throughout the State of Florida, the US and worldwide.
First celebrated in 2012, by founder Belgin Askoy, Global Wellness Day was established in Turkey as the “first” day dedicated to living well, and has now been accepted throughout the world. Global Wellness Day has been officially celebrated in 100 countries at 4000 different locations in 2017, reflecting its success.
Although we have an official date to honor wellness, this is just a reminder that embracing wellness into our life is an everyday occurrence and commitment to oneself. As an Ambassador for the Global Wellness Day movement, which I am proud to share with the Florida Spa Association, we are dedicated to promoting well-being by continuously encouraging our spas to make a conscious effort to incorporate wellness into the life of their guests as well as their own. Every FSA event facilitates a partnership with wellness, whether it’s fitness, nutrition, tourism or any other facet of life that includes health and wellness. Being in the spa industry we are invested in the art of self care and the face of well-being.
To live well we need to respect and make peace with our body and mind, care for it, protect it, love it and eliminate stress and bad habits as much as possible. We all want to be healthier, look and feel better and live well both physically and spiritually.
With the slogan “One day can change your whole life,” we celebrate Global Wellness Day on the second Saturday of June every year as an International Day. Global Wellness Day will be celebrated on Saturday, June 9th, 2018 in more than 100 countries at 5000 different locations.
